This policy explains what personal data Dryva Service Transport System Ltd ("Dryva", "we", "us") collects when you use the Easy Waka app and our website, why we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Who we are
Dryva Service Transport System Ltd, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, is the data controller for Easy Waka. For privacy questions or requests, or anything else, contact us at hello@dryva.ng.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, gender, date of birth and address, your password (stored only in scrambled, one-way form) and, if you add one, a profile photo.
- Wallet and identity details: the Easy Waka wallet is a closed-loop wallet, used only to pay for transport and send money to other Easy Waka users (only drivers' fares can be withdrawn). To open one, the law requires identity verification, so you give your Bank Verification Number (BVN) and a bank account number. Our payment gateway provider, Paystack, uses them to verify you and create your wallet's bank account. We keep them encrypted, together with a one-way fingerprint of your BVN that stops the same BVN opening two wallets.
- Payments: top-ups, fares, transfers, payment requests and withdrawals, with amounts, dates, references, the other party and any note you add.
- Driver and office registrations: details registered at an Easy Waka office, which may include your BVN and National Identification Number (NIN), your vehicle, its plate and VET code; and, for drivers, your payout bank account.
- Location: drivers who switch Online share their location every 15–30 seconds until they go offline, so nearby commuters and our operations team can see available vehicles. Commuters' location is used only at the moment they look for nearby vehicles and is not stored.
- Your phone: an app-generated install identifier, the phone model and platform, used to keep your account on one phone and protect it; and a notification token so we can send you alerts.
- Usage and security records: sign-ins, errors and activity logs used to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
- To create and run your account and wallet, carry out the payments you ask for and show your history (to perform our contract with you).
- To verify identity, prevent fraud and duplicate wallets, and keep financial records as Nigerian law requires (legal obligation).
- To match commuters with nearby drivers, send account emails and notifications, provide support and keep the service secure (contract and legitimate interests).
- We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Paystack — payments, dedicated bank accounts, identity verification and payouts.
- Google (Firebase) — delivering push notifications; Google Maps — showing maps.
- Brevo — sending account emails.
- DigitalOcean — hosting our servers and storage.
- Commuters see a driver's vehicle type, VET code and approximate location; never a driver's name or phone number in the nearby-drivers view.
- Regulators, law enforcement or courts, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria (for example in the European Union). Where that happens we rely on the safeguards the Nigeria Data Protection Act allows, such as contractual protections.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we erase your sign-in, name, email, phone number and photo, and close your wallet. Payment records and the identity details used to open your wallet are kept for as long as Nigerian financial regulations require (generally at least five years), then deleted. Driver locations are kept only while you are online. Database backups are deleted after 30 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or on the web at admin.dryva.ng/app/delete-account. Your wallet must be empty first; contact us if you need a balance refunded.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict some uses, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email hello@dryva.ng; we reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections, sensitive identity details are encrypted at rest, passwords are one-way scrambled, and access is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and transaction PIN private.
Children
Easy Waka wallets are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We will post any changes here and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
